Sample Of My Poems

I have been given the chance to come across so amazing writers/ poets in the making and I am grateful to have been able to read what flows from their mind onto paper. I love listening to other writers read their writing because their passion shines and it encourages me to continue writing. I love the connection you get when you re with other writers. It is almost like a family bond. Writing is something that brings strangers together and people closer. I am so grateful I have discovered it. I am very new to this whole poetry thing but I look forward to gaining more experience in life and being able to write about all the things I see and feel.  And so the journey begins with me and my poems in my little leather book. Advice From A Stranger This man told me once "Whatever you do, do not fall in love". I always wondered why he told me this. He must of had his heart broken so badly that he swore to himself that he would never love again. Oh she must of been so beautiful fo...

Back At It

My goodness it has been awhile... I have not done a blog post since October... But my life has not been that exciting to write more blog posts lol. Anyways I am back and I hope to blog more! I want to strengthen my writing and express it on this blog.  I want to write about things going on in my life, adventures I go on, lists, future goals, advice and most importantly poetry. First I want to use this blog as a way to publish my poetry. Over the past few months I have been in a class called writers craft and it is given me the opportunity to write in many different styles and from this class I fell in love with poetry. Poetry is such beautiful way to express and to share how you feel. Poetry is an escape, a way to put words to feelings, a beautiful portrait of art. Poetry is a lifeline to me now and I cannot wait to show it here.  Although it will be nerve wracking to put my thoughts out in the open to others... art is art and it cannot be judged. Secondly: It's the s...

100 Things I am Grateful For

Fall is such a wonderful time of the year for many reasons... sweater weather, football, pumpkin spice lattes, drinking warm tea by the fire, perfect time for running, the changing colours of the leaves, and most of all thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is by far my favourite holiday of the year. It is a tradition for my family to go up t or cottage and then go to our friends cottage for a huge thanksgiving dinner. It is just overall a great weekend filled with amazing food, even better company and laughter. I look forward to it every year! I love just spending quality time with the people I love most... nothing gets better then that! 100 Things I am Grateful for: 1. Jesus dying on the cross 2. My faith and that I am a daughter of a king 3. Living in Canada 4. Freedom 5. My family 6. Having the best brother in the world 7. Having super wise parents 8. The Campbells 9. Going to a really good school 10. Safety 11. Clean water 12. My grandparents and how supportive they are 13. Fa...

Summer Sixteen It Has Been Real

WELL THAT IS A WRAP! Summer 16 was by far my best summer yet. I am so thankful to God for all the memories I was able to make and all the experiences I got to take part in. Although summer is ending I am ready and look forward to start a my final year of high school. Usual ending summer I feel so sad but I did so much this summer my bucket is full and I feel complete ;) I now await the adventures of this grade 12 year. Being the cheesy person I like to make recap lists... So here is my 2016 summer highlights list 1) OBVIOUSLY KENYA 2) meeting so many new people and creating new friendships 3) Learning so much and having a new perspective to look at life through 4) Celebrating my birthday at MCF and getting the surprise cake... first time I felt truly wanted 5) Life chats around yummy food at this gorgeous resort on lake Nivasha 6) All the sunsets I got to experience ( Masai Mara, Wasaga Beach, Penlake) 7) Touring Montreal and falling in love with the city 8) Playing golf with ...

What I Have Been Up to

Heyy Y'all! I am back, probably did not miss me and that is ok :) anyways just thought I would do a bit of a recap of what I have been up to lately. It seems like I have been non stop all summer but this has by far been the best summer yet #summersixteen (drake reference lol). So I just recently camp home from counseling at this camp called Joy Bible Camp. Counseling here is one of my most favourite things to do! I love being able to pour the love of God into these young girls. It was a great week because I did it with my best friend our camp names were memphis and indie but we blew our cover after the first hour and by accident said each others name. We were so blessed to have a cabin with such kindhearted and adorable little girls. Every camper I got to know over the week has a very special place in my heart. It was an action packed week and I am still recovering from exhaustion as a counselor you are on the job basically non stop 24/7. It is a very tiring week but so worth it....

Plans

So I find at this time of year I really start planing and wanting a fresh start... as September is rolling in very quickly I want to start the year off right. August is my month when I am really in my thoughts on the things I want to do. Really in my head a new year starts in September not January... this is when I have my fresh start. Because I have a hard time sometimes forming my thoughts into words I am just going to make a list of some of my goals and goofy little plans I have thought up. As August goes on I hope to have a more fine tuned plan for how I am going to make this the best year yet. I truly cannot believe I will be starting my final year of high school in just over a few weeks man does time fly! Last year did not go as well as planned it was a year filled with many road bumps but looking back I have come out of it stronger with God even closer to my side! So Lord willing I want to do what I can to make this a better year... Anyways here is my quirky list... The Plan: ...

Blink Of An Eye

Wow... I cannot believe it has been almost 2 weeks back in Canada. Time truly does fly... The adjustment the last little while has been an interesting one. I have personally found it just a little too easy to slip back into the sometimes self absorbed culture that sometimes occurs in our community. But I have also been finding the reverse culture shock tough of being back in the normal routine and wanting so desperately to go back to Kenya. That trip was the best experience of my life and all the memories and people we met will forever hold a place in my heart. I wish I could go back to Kenya and live there but then bring all my loved ones with me. Something I have been struggling with during the adjustment is coming to terms with the fact that I am here in Canada with no worries in the world going to starbucks, hanging with friends downtown, laying on the beach etc and there are people in Kenya who can barely make a dollar a day... Just those 2 thoughts do not sit well with me that ma...
