Fadhili Trust

This week we have been spending our time at this organization called Fadhili Trust. This is an amazing organization which helps local communities and people who are in tough situations. They help people through village savings and loan associations ( type of micro-finance). They do this to help people create business and increase income. Our first day with them we had an introduction of the organization and then we visited a small private school. The visit was super fun because they stopped all the classes to meet us. Everyone was so welcoming and we were given the honour to talk with the students in their classes which was really cool because they had so many good questions about Canada.  After the school visit we went and had 2 home visits of 2 of the beneficiaries of Fadhili. The stories of the people we have met have been very emotional. The one lady we met lives by herself because Fadhili is supporting her kids to go to boarding school which takes a burden off her shoulder but life is still very challenging because she injured her back so she is not able to work so she has to beg for her friends who shortly get sick of having to provide for her. This ladies life is a constant time of feeling like a burden on others. As she was sharing her story with us she started crying and said she could not go into detail because it hurt to much. I was very touched by her life story and she will forever be in my heart and prayers. Many people we have met have stories like her and this has brought a lot of perspective on things of my own life. It was a great but emotional day.

The next day at Fadhili we planted trees. The trees would then soon act as a fence for the new land Fadhili is hoping to build on. Tree planting was a blast an it was fun to get our hands dirty and to spend a little bit of our time helping others.

The people who work at Fadhili are so kind hearted and so fun to be around! Look forward to another great day with them tomorrow!
