Yesterday

Yesterday was an action packed day and very educational.  We started are morning off by going to the United Nations. This was pretty cool because there are only 5 UN campuses and one was in Kenya. At the UN we got this wonderful tour that explained the mission of the UN and how the future is ours and all the things we can do to make a difference. After the tour it got me thinking maybe working for the UN would be a cool job opportunity for me because I want to make a change in the world and work internationally. We then left the UN and headed to the village market which is a really fancy mall. We had lunch there and then just walked around and did some window shopping. We stayed there for a few hours and then went to ISK which is a really fancy high school. The international school of Kenya is a beautiful school... tempted to say I would love to go there in the fall... Going to ISK was perfect for my research project because it showed the wide range of schools there are in Kenya.  After our tour of the school we headed to this family's house who is a friend of Dr K.  We didn't know the family very well but right when we got their we instantly felt at home. That is one thing I love about the Kenyan culture everyone is so welcoming and loving. In Kenya they treat visitors with so much honour and see it as a negative if your home does not get any visitors. It has been such a blessing to meet and visit with so many different people in their homes and it truly felt like they were so happy to have us there. The dinner was amazing and the conversation was great would love to bring that part of the Kenyan back to Canada because I feel like we have lost the sense of welcoming people into our homes and enjoying visitors company because we are so busy.  Anyways yesterday was a great day and now I hate that the countdown is on when I will have to go on the plane to go home :(

I'll See Ya,
A.S.
